I don’t know why I resisted so long in reading this duet because I love stalker romances (see also Raw by Belle Aurora). But this was one situation where I allowed reviews to persuade me not to read but I am glad I gave it a chance because this is an epic dark romance.

Zade is the epitome of scarred hero and he is utterly obsessed with Addie from the first time he sees her. I love this over the top possessive obsession in a hero.

Carlton’s writing style stands out because she can make a mood that is both hauntingly beautiful and a little creepy. She does a great job of weaving together the darker parts of the story with times of light and hope. The story moves along at a good pace, mixing suspense with quiet times of reflection so that the reader stays interested from beginning to end.

For the most part, “Haunting Adeline” is a great dark tale. People will remember this book long after they finish reading it, which shows how good H.D. Carlton is at writing stories. This book is a must-read for fans of the genre because it takes the themes of love, obsession, and forgiveness in a new and interesting way.

Check your trigger warnings with this one. There is non con and dub con but the spice is fiery and I loved every minute, Highly recommend it.
