The author Jodi Malpas makes a note in the afterword that she wrote Becker and Eleanor’s story soon after the This Man series (which just happens to be my second favorite series of all time) because the reader could not take the character Becker soon after reading Jesse’s story and she was right to wait because Becker is a world unto himself.
I loved this book (Period). It has been a long time since I have read such a great story with such a enigmatic and multi dimensional alpha-male lead like Becker. Arrogant, childlike at times, sexy to the core and exuding confidence and swagger he is a dream. Flaws….he has them in spades. But they add to his entire being. And a man who appreciates history and art? (Swoon).
It was magnetic watching Becker and Eleanor fight their feelings for one another. Desire was rampant in this boss/employee relationship. Eleanor is a smart and independent woman trying to make her way in London while following her first love of all things antiques. I just loved them both.
Can I wait until November to see how their story continues? I guess I will have too unless the author wants to kindly provide an ARC for a review (wink). It is going to be hard to wait because we are left at a cliffhanger. (Second book is Wicked Truths)
Check this one out…I don’t think you will be disappointed.
