Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness...

He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I'd never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily...

Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other's most private worlds...and desires.

The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart...

Books Similar to 50 Shades of Grey… Bared to You by Sylvia Day

I grew up reading historical romances.  In fact that is how I got introduced to the romance genre.  I didn’t read much contemporary until I read Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James around 2012 and I fell in love.  Not with the sex scenes and BDSM as many other readers did but because of Christian’s character.  He was dark and a billionaire.  Two qualities I soon realized I loved in romance.  Then Bared to You by Sylvia Day and came out and Gideon Cross outshone Christian in spades.  In fact to this day, even after over 13 years The Crossfire series remains one of my favorite books of all times.  So, I want to review it for you.  This is Bared to You….books similar to Fifty Shades of Grey…but better.

The book features Eva and Gideon.  Eva has jus  recently relocated from San Diego to Manhattan to begin anew with her best friend Cary.  On one of the first days in the city she runs in Gideon while visiting the building where she will be working.  She doesn’t know who he is but she is so taken aback by his beauty that she literally falls at her feet.  Gideon is instantly attracted to Eva and the sparks between them is sizzling hot.  And that is how the story of Gideon and Eva begins.  But it doesn’t end there.  Oh no, it goes on for five books because nothing about their relationship comes easy.  Gideon is a tortured hero with trauma along with Eva’s trauma and they are just trying to survive as a couple.

But Giden….Gideon….Gideon He becomes one of my top book husbands (too old for book boyfriends….lol).  Everything about his character oozes confidence and sex.  I loved him.

I know that is probably not a very popular thing to say but since I read the Crossfire series Fifty Shades never even registered. If you haven’t read this series…READ IT NOW! It has everything: sex, angst, intrigue, billionaire lifestyles and so much more.

It is one of my favorite book series of all time and I love to reread it. I always pick up on something new.

I will spare you my other platitudes of bliss with this series and just say my safe word: Crossfire.
