Payton

Running away from home at 17 wasn’t easy. Let’s face it though, nothing before, or in the ten years since, has ever been easy for me.

And I’m doing okay. Sorta. I just need to keep scraping by, living under the radar. Staying out of people’s way, off people’s minds.

So when a man walks through my open patio door, stepping boldly into my home, and my life, I should be scared. Frightened. Terrified.

But I must be more broken than I realized, because I’m none of those things.

I’m intrigued.

And I’m wondering if the way to take control of my life is by giving in to him.

Nero

The first time I took a man’s life, I knew there’d be no going back. No normal existence in the cards for me.

So instead of walking away, I climbed a mountain of bodies, and created my own destiny. By forming The Alliance.

And I was fine with that. Content enough to carry on.

Until I stepped through those open doors, and into her life.

I should’ve walked away. Should’ve gone right back out the door I came through. But I didn’t.

And now her life is in danger.

But that’s the thing about being a bad man. I’ll happily paint the streets red to protect what’s mine.

And Payton is mine. Whether she knows it or not.

Nero by S.J. Tilly Book Review (Mafia Romance Book)

I have always had a soft touch for insta-love, over-the-top possessive/controlling, and mafia romance.  Put them all together and I am absolutely in love.

Imagine sitting on your couch watching television and munching on popcorn when suddenly a man appears on your deck…your open door deck and then walks in brazenly, takes a seat on the couch and eats your popcorn because he is running from the police.  This is how the story of Nero and Payton begins.  And once Nero is bitten by love he falls instantly and hard to the point of stalking.  This man is possessive and crazy to the nth degree and I loved it.  If this is the start of the series I cannot imagine how the others are.

And the interaction between Nero and King, his best friend and fellow member of the Alliance is beautiful.  Their easygoing and hilarious banter makes gives the book levity.

I had been in a serious reading slump lately. I love mafia romance but just had not been able to find a book that scratched my itch. But holy moly was I happy after reading this book.

This book had everything….action, emotion, smut (plenty of that) and most of all a hot possessive/obsessive alpha crime boss with serious touch her and you’ll die vibes. Nero falls hard for Payton and he cannot go a second without seeing her or touching her (swoon). Plus I loved the banter and comradeship between Nero and his best friend King.

This book was so well written. I read it in one sitting. The pace was fast and the chapters short. This is my first read by this author but will not be my last.

I highly recommend this book.

About S.J. Tilly

Like all her books, S.J. Tilly resides in the glorious state of Minnesota, where she was born and raised. To avoid the freezing cold winters, S.J. enjoys burying her head in books, whether to read them or write them or listen to them.

When she’s not busy writing her contemporary smut, she can be found lounging with her husband and their herd of rescue boxers. And when the weather permits she loves putting her compost to use in the garden, pretending to know what she’s doing. The neighbors may not like the flowery mayhem of her yard, but the bees sure do. And really, that’s more important.
